USING LED LIGHTING IMPROVES LIGHT UNIFORMITY AND TRANSLATES TO ENERGY SAVINGS OF UP TO 75%

How does LED parking lot lighting improve performance?
LED Parking Lot Lights efficiently provide more uniform illumination compared with conventional high-intensity discharge (HID) luminaires. Improving uniformity improves safety and visibility, and allows for reduction in light level (Light Pollution) and energy use.
In North America, the recommended practice for parking lot lighting includes a minimum light level criterion (minimum of 5 lux) and a uniformity criterion (maximum -to-minimum ratio of 15:1). In a study conducted by the Lighting Research Centre (LRC), they examined the efficacy of High Intensity Discharge lighting (HID) vs. LED lighting and found that LED parking lot lighting (150lm/w source efficacy) with different HPS parking lot lights (107 lm/w efficacy) . The model showed that LED lighting can not only provide better light uniformity, but can do so at twice the application efficacy , thus lowering power demand.

CAPITAL COSTS TO CONVERT TO LED
INITIAL CAPITAL COSTS
Likely the biggest challenge for business owners & managers choosing to convert to LEDs is the capital cost. Beyond capital cost, purchasers should consider the total ownership cost, which includes energy and maintenance costs throughout the life of the fixture, to find the most cost-effective option. LED fixture costs are decreasing annually as the technology is advancing and becoming more widely implemented. This decreases the price gap between technologies and shortens the LED payback period.
CAPITAL COST FINANCING
Hydro Quebec is one of the organizations that provide financing for LED conversion in the form of a rebate on your retrofit*. Our financing department can help you build a business case that will support LEDs as replacements for HPS and MH technology as these scenarios have been thoroughly tested and shown to significantly reduce energy consumption and costs. This will provide you with the required information to apply for financing for your project at very competitive rates.
